  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped red candied cherries
  • 1/2 cup chopped green candied cherries
  • 1/4 cup sanding sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 320°F (160°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy (about 3 minutes).
  3. Add sweetened condensed milk and mix until well blended (2 minutes).
  4. Incorporate almond extract into the mixture.
  5. Gradually add all-purpose flour and baking powder; mix until combined.
  6. Gently fold in chopped candied cherries.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized mounds onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space in between.
  8. Sprinkle sanding sugar on top of each mound before baking.
  9. Bake for approximately 12 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges.
  10. Cool on the pan for five minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
